COMPLETE RESULTSHAVERFORD, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's track & field team posted a seventh-place finish at the Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday, March 1. The Garnet registered 55 points, coming in ahead of Franklin & Marshall, Bryn Mawr and McDaniel.
Johns Hopkins captured the title with a commanding 163.50 points, outscoring runner-up Haverford with 115 points and third place Dickinson with 103.50 points. Gettysburg (72.50), Ursinus (69), Muhlenberg (55.50), Swarthmore (55), Franklin & Marshall (41), Bryn Mawr (18) and McDaniel (9) completed the field.
Swarthmore, which finished second at the meet a year ago, still had two winning performances despite struggling to score high in the team standings. Senior
Osazenoriuwa Ebose broke her own school record in the shot put and won the event with a toss that sailed 44-feet, 8.25-inches. The mark was four feet better than her closest competitor and ranked 17th nationally, placing her squarely on the bubble for an NCAA Championships appearance in a few weeks. Indy Reid-Shaw also captured gold by circling the track in 12:32.71.
Other notable finishes were made by sophomores
Lulu Allen-Waller and
Katherine Zavez as well as junior
Sarah Nielsen. Allen-Waller was third in the 60-meter high hurdles in 9.42 seconds and sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.32. Zavez placed third in the pole vault by clearing 9-0.25, while Nielsen was third in the mile in 5:01.40.
Swarthmore will now look ahead to the outdoor season, which begins on Friday, March 27 when the program makes the short trip to Widener for the Danny Curran Invitational.
