Student-Athlete Well-being

As a student-athlete, you may face unique challenges and stressors that impact your academic and athletic success, as well as your overall well-being. Here are some resources to help you manage your stress and maintain your health and wellness.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
To get connected to a provider, please make an Access appointment via the CAPS website and go to Get Connected to CAPS to select an appointment time. During your phone appointment, the Access provider will ask if you want to be connected to the Athletics provider and where you'd like your appointment to take place.

Dr. Andre Watson is the CAPS Counselor for Athletics; however, you may elect to see any provider in CAPS as you wish. In his role at Swarthmore, Watson provides direct clinical services to student-athletes, with some services provided to the broader student population. The position includes outreach programming, consultation, and professional training to student athletes, coaches, and staff on topics central to mental health needs including NCAA and best practice guidelines.

NCAA resources for Health, Safety, & Performance
The NCAA Sport Science Institute (SSI) supports college athletes by promoting mental and physical health, safety, and performance.

Be Well
Swarthmore's Be Well initiatives aim to support holistic well-being for each individual and collectively for our campus community, with programs and collaborations across the College. Be Well recognizes wellness as a lifelong and multi-dimensional process that is personal and cultural. There is no “one size fits all” approach to being well.
