Women’s Track & Field Opens Strong at Centennial Championships

GETTYSBURG, PA. - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team had a strong opening to the Centennial Conference Championships on Friday night.

Vivian Molnar tallied points for the Garnet with seventh place in the hammer throw. The sophomore earned her highest career finish at the championships while setting a new personal record in the event. 

Kate Reiter got out to an excellent start in the heptathlon. The rookie placed top-five in three different events and currently resides in third overall with 2,268 points. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Molnar earned a couple points for the Garnet with a seventh-place effort in the hammer throw. The junior threw for a personal record of 41.81m. Tate Garcia finished just outside the top-10 with a 39.74m mark to grab 11th, while Aislinn Comerford secured 13th with a personal best of 38.19m. 

- Reiter currently sits in third overall in the heptathlon. The rookie finished second in the high jump (1.53m), third in the shot put (9.00m) and fourth in the 200m (28.95). Her measurements in the high jump and shot put marked new personal bests. 

- Sophia Springer placed 11th overall in the pole vault. The senior recorded a top height of 2.90m.

The Garnet return to action for tomorrow's second day of the Centennial Championships.
