HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's track and field team traveled to nearby Haverford College for the Haverford Invitational on Saturday.
Sophomore
Katie Jo McMenamin raced to a third-best Division III mile finish of 5:01.14 (converted to 4:58.19 for track size) for second place behind a runner from Penn. The mark tops the Centennial Conference this season.
Senior
Emma Saarel recorded a strong performance, earning a sixth-place finish and ECAC-qualifying time in the 3,000-meter run, clocking in at 10:27.84. The mark is a personal-best for the senior harrier and stands as seventh-best in the Centennial Conference.
In the 800-meter run junior
Liz Tawa and freshman
Indy Reid-Shaw placed in the top-10 with marks of 2:25.72 and 2:28.26, respectively.
Junior
Julia Nee sprinted to a top-10 finish in the 200-meter dash on a 28.00 time, while freshman
Katherine Zavez made her collegiate debut in the event on a 29.63 finish. The duo also competed in the 60-meter dash with 8.71 and 8.97 marks, respectively. Freshman Lulu Allen-Waller placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles clocking 9.76 behind four Penn competitors.
In the field events, junior
Osazenoriuwa Ebose tossed the shot put 11.28 meters (37' 0.25") for third place.
The Garnet returns to action on Friday, February 7 in two different meets; Haverford's McElligott Invitational and Boston University's Valentine Invitational.
