NEW YORK - The Swarthmore College women's track and field team returned to action at the Armory Track & Field Center, competing in the NYU Saturday Night Shootout on January, 18.
The women's 4x800-meter relay team of
Liz Tawa,
Sarah Nielsen,
Kate Hannah and
Katie Jo McMenamin took an ECAC-qualifying ticket on their 9:40.96 second-place finish. The mark is at the top of the Centennical Conference performance list this season.
Sophomore
Katie Lin recorded a season-best 400-meter dash finish of 1:01.24 for third place and first in her heat. Running in her first collegiate 1,000-event, sophomore
Sophia Frantz paced the loop in 3:33.68 for 11th place. Senior
Emma Saarel (5:27.85) and sophomore
Jenna Cody (5:30.04) each recorded personal-bests in the mile run.
In the 3,000-meter, freshman
Indy Reid-Shaw led the Garnet with her 10:50.00 pace for eighth place followed by freshmen
Natalie McLaughlin (11:07.37) and
Tess Wei (11:11.22).
The sprint medley relay also recorded a strong finish of the legs of
Anise Charles,
Lulu Allen Waller,
Julia Nee and Lin with a 4:34.50 pace.
Junior
Osazenoriuwa Ebose made her first indoor appearance of the season, recording a shot put distance of 10.80 meters (35' 3.25") for second place.
Next up for Swarthmore is the Haverford Invitational on Saturday, January 25th, a precursor to the Centennial Conference Championships in February.
