Women's Track & Field Adds Three More Medals, Finishes Third at Centennial Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's track & field team took third place at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships on Sunday at Ursinus College. The Garnet's 109 points was their highest output since their runner-up finish in 2019.
 
Swarthmore earned three more medals to bring its weekend total to nine (three gold, three silver, three bronze). Tate Garcia and Lee Bickford finished second and third respectively in the shot put while Trel Trelstad came in third in the javelin.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Garcia was the runner-up in the shot put with a season-best toss of 12.85m. Bickford followed in third place with a throw of 11.67m. Both athletes claimed two medals over the three-day meet. Hannah Swale had a strong showing with a fifth-place finish (11.48m) and Jordyn Bernard was 16th (9.95m).
 
- After winning the high jump on Saturday, Trelstad picked up another medal with a third place (33.11m) in the javelin. Amelia Landry recorded a season-best distance of 28.92m to take eighth.
 
- The 4x400 meter relay team of Elizabeth Page, Hannah Garrou, Katelyn Becker, and Swale crossed the line fourth in 4:04.27. Swale also finished fourth in the triple jump with a personal-best 11.07m and Rebekah Gendler followed in 13th place (10.02m).
 
- Caroline Hill competed in the final of the 100 meter hurdles and placed fifth with a personal-record time of 16.72. Ania Wong and Katelyn Becker both ran in the 800 meters final and took sixth (2:21.86) and seventh (2:27.26) respectively.
 
- Page completed the 1500 meters in 4:37.22 for fifth place. Alina Irvine and Morgan Mouer both ran career bests, coming in 13th (4:45.63) and 18th (4:52.81) respectively.
 
- The Garnet had four athletes run in the 5000 meters. Olivia Montini led the pack with a fifth-place showing (18:20.08) while Tea Malone-Bonnaci finished ninth (18:44.30). Aaliyah Anaskevich produced a personal-best time of 19:03.86 to take 12th and Bella Thoen followed in 20th place (20:19.75).

Swarthmore will have select athletes travel to the Widener Final Qualifier on May 12.
