Golf Falls to Third in Second Round, Zhang Remains in Top-Five

WAYNESBORO, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's golf team slipped to third place after a tough and windy second round at the Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday. The Garnet posted a 308 (+20) on the day, bringing them to 18-over for the tournament—nine strokes behind leaders Gettysburg and Franklin & Marshall.

Despite the team's challenges, junior Dylan Zhang maintained his spot in the top five. He shot a two-over-par round, putting him at one-over for the tournament and just three strokes off the lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zhang got off to a strong start, recording three birdies on the front nine to go three-under. However, he ran into trouble on the back nine, giving back five strokes. He finished with a two-over 74 for the round, dropping to fifth place overall.

- Max Ash held onto eighth place with a two-over 74 in the second round. The sophomore played a clean front nine, highlighted by two birdies, but lost momentum on the back nine with a four-over finish. He enters tomorrow's final round at three-over for the tournament.

- Andy Xin finished seven-over for the round, dropping to 14th place. He shot five-over on the front nine but bounced back with a two-over performance on the back nine. The junior added two birdies, bringing his tournament total to seven.

- Yuxuan Wang dropped to 18th place after shooting an 84 (+12). He started the round strong with consecutive birdies, but gave back 10 strokes over the next nine holes. Wang will look to bounce back tomorrow, currently sitting at 10-over for the tournament.

- Judah Fulchiero moved to 21st place overall, sitting at 11-over for the tournament. The first-year shot six-over on the front nine, but ended the round on a positive note with two birdies. He finished with a nine-over 81 for the day.
