WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's golf team reside in fifth overall after the opening round of the Centennial Championship Tournament on Friday. The Garnet shot 302 (+14) as a team, shooting 20 strokes off the leader.
Phelps Wang shot an even-72 to headline the round. The junior is tied for ninth overall, representing the Garnet in the top-10 individually. Wang is currently four-strokes off the individual leader.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wang tied for ninth overall at an even-72 to open play. The junior got off to an outstanding start, carding an eagle on the opening hole. He ended the day with two more birdies and four bogeys to break even for the round.

Dylan Zhang sits at three-over-par in 18th place. The senior finished his day strong with a pair of birdies on the back nine, but will look to make up ground in the final two rounds.

Max Ash occupies 23rd place at five-over-par, carding a pair of birdies for the round.
Frank Zhou then rounded out the team's scorers at six-over to follow in 24th overall.

Michael Yuen also competed for the Garnet at seven-over-par. The rookie totaled four birdies in a 26th-place effort.
