MOORPARK, Calif. – The Swarthmore College men's golf team sits in 12
th place after the opening round of the CLU Kingsmen Invitational on Monday. It was the Garnet's first action of the spring season.
Swarthmore posted a team score of 305 on the day and the Garnet are 13 strokes off the leader Whitman College. Seven of the 14 competing squads are ranked in the top 50 in Division III.
Dylan Zhang was the top scorer for Swarthmore, recording a one-over-par 73. He is tied for 16
th place on the leaderboard.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zhang had a rough start to his round with a double bogey on 16 and a bogey on 17. However, the junior settled in with a birdie on 18, the first of four on the day, and shot two-under the rest of the way.

Yuxuan Wang is in a tie for 30
th place with a 76 (+4). He stumbled with back-to-back bogeys on two and three, but got back to even par with an eagle-3 on five, his team-leading third eagle of the season. Wang birdied on seven to go one-under but shot five-over across his final eight holes.

Max Ash,
Neil Zhu, and
Judah Fulchiero all shot a 78 (+6) and are tied for 50
th place. Zhu, playing as an individual, produced three birdies for the round while Ash and Fulchiero tallied two apiece.

Andy Xin is tied for 57
th with a score of 79 (+7). He registered a trio of birdies on the day.
Chad Kemmerer is competing as an individual and is in 74
th place with an 84 (+12).
