KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Swarthmore College's
Ava Gizzie was selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team, the organization announced on Thursday afternoon.
Gizzie becomes the third individual in program history to earn All-America honors, joining Caroline Khanna (2015) and Marin McCoy (2015, 2017, 2018). The junior garnered the accolade for the first time after picking up their third consecutive All-Region First Team nod earlier this week.
Gizzie recorded a career-high 11 goals and totaled 24 points this season. The New Canaan, Connecticut native was one of the top offensive threats in Division III, ranking 15
th with 5.10 shots per game. They had a streak of nine consecutive games with a goal this year, tying the program record. Gizzie was the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a member of the All-Centennial First Team.
Gizzie led the Garnet to a 15-3-5 record and a berth in the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament.
