PHILADELPHIA - Swarthmore College women's soccer standouts

Ava Gizzie and
Celia Kanellakos were chosen as members of the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area women's soccer team, announced on Tuesday. Voted on by local athletic communications offices, the honor recognizes 12 of the top student-athletes across all divisions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
The Garnet tied for the most All-Area selections with three honorees. Jefferson University also garnered three selections, while Rowan University and the University of Penn followed with two members. Eastern University and West Chester University were also represented on the list with one recepient.
Gizzie added to their post-season accolades after earning their third consecutive All-Region First Team nod and their first All-America selection. Gizzie enjoyed their best statistical season, tallying a career-high 11 goals and 24 points this season. The junior was third in the region in game-winners (4), 12
th in goals, and 15
th in points. They had a streak of nine consecutive games with a goal this year, tying the program record. Gizzie was the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a member of the All-Centennial First Team.
Kanellakos finished second on the Garnet behind Gizzie in both goals (8) and points (20). She tallied five game-winning goals, which ranked second in the region. Kanellakos was chosen to the All-Centennial Conference First Team.
Evans helped the squad rank fifth in the region in both goals against average and shutout percentage. The Garnet allowed just 15 goals with 13 shutouts in 23 contests. Evans was an All-Centennial First Team selection and an All-Region Second-team recipient.
