LANCASTER, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's soccer team earned two major awards and had a program-record eight selections to the All-Centennial Team, the conference announced on Thursday.
Ava Gizzie was named the Centennial Offensive Player of the Year and to the All-Centennial First Team. Gizzie is the third individual in Garnet history to garner a conference player of the year award, joining Megan Colombo (2010) and Marin McCoy (2017, 2018). It is their third consecutive All-Centennial First Team honor.
Gizzie was joined on the first team by
Celia Kanellakos,
Aminah Evans, and
Dahlia Bedward. It is the second straight All-Centennial nod for Kanellakos and Evans while Bedward received her first career recognition.
Nicole Jensen was an All-Centennial Second Team honoree for her first career award while
Charlotte Carleton,
Macie Mangini, and
Haley Lewinski all garnered honorable mention. It was Carleton's second selection in a row while Mangini and Lewinski were first-time recipients. The Garnet's eight All-Centennial spots surpassed the previous record of seven from 2016.
Swarthmore's staff led by head coach
Todd Anckaitis was chosen the Centennial Coaching Staff of the Year for the first time. In addition,
Eloise Franz was the Garnet's representative on the Centennial All-Sportsmanship Team.
Gizzie posted a career-high 11 goals and 23 points this season. The junior led the Centennial in goals and ranked second in points. Gizzie's four game-winners were also second in the conference. They had a streak of nine consecutive games with a goal this year, tying the program record. Gizzie was previously the Centennial Rookie of the Year in 2023 and joins McCoy as the only players in Swarthmore history to garner both rookie and player of the year honors in their career.
Kanellakos finished second on the squad behind Gizzie in both goals (8) and points (19). She led the conference with five game-winners, including one against nationally-ranked Washington and Lee University. Kanellakos previously received All-Centennial honorable mention in 2024.
Last season's Centennial Rookie of the Year, Evans had another standout season on the back line for the Garnet. She helped the squad rank 24
th in Division III in shutout percentage and 35
th in goals against average, topping the conference in both categories. Swarthmore has allowed just 11 goals with 13 shutouts in 20 contests. Evans also has one assist on the season. She was a second-team selection in 2024.
Bedward has made 18 starts in goal for the Garnet, going 12-2-3 with six shutouts. She has compiled 69 saves, a 0.66 goals against average, and a .873 save percentage. Bedward led the Centennial in save percentage while ranking third in goals against average and shutouts, and fourth in saves. The senior was named the conference's defensive player of the week twice.
Jensen demonstrated excellent passing and vision throughout the campaign, leading Swarthmore with six assists. The sophomore added two goals to finish with 10 points.
Carleton tallied three goals and three assists for nine points. She previously received honorable mention in 2024. Mangini produced six points on two goals and two assists while Lewinski was another key contributor to the Garnet's top-ranked defense. Lewinski was also one of Swarthmore's primary takers on corner kicks and notched three assists.

Esther Edwards,
Reba Magier, and
Maddy Carens led the Garnet to their second NCAA Tournament appearance in three years, the Centennial regular season title, and a 14-3-3 record. Swarthmore went unbeaten during the conference schedule with a 9-0-1 mark and was the runner-up in the conference tournament. The team has been nationally ranked every week this season with a peak of No. 12. Franz also assisted the staff this season after suffering a season-ending injury.
