CRESSON, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's golf team finished fifth at the Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic on Saturday. The final round was played at Summit Country Club.
The Garnet shot 303 on the day and closed the season-opening tournament with a two-round score of 612. Swarthmore was just four strokes off the runner-up score of 608 recorded by Heidelberg University and Mount Aloysius College.
Max Ash was the Garnet's top individual, tying for fourth place with a 148 (+4). He carded a 76 for the round.
Andy Xin had the best Swarthmore round on Saturday, shooting a one-over 73.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ash shot even par through the first eight holes on Saturday, before going through a rough four-hole stretch where he shot five-over-par. Ash bounced back with a pair of birdies down the stretch to finish in the top five.
- Xin improved by six strokes in the second round and concluded with a total score of 152, tying for 16
th place. He started strong with three birdies on the first four holes and added another on the ninth.

Judah Fulchiero wrapped up his collegiate debut with a 77 (+5) and tied for 27
th place. He produced a total score of 155.

Yuxuan Wang produced a birdie on his way to a 77. He finished the tournament tied for 34
th (157).

Chad Kemmerer posted a five-stroke improvement to card a 78 on Saturday. His total score of 161 tied for 47
th place. Kemmerer registered three birdies for the round.
