Women’s Track & Field Wraps Up Danny Curran Invite

CHESTER, Pa - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team finished competition at the Widener University Danny Curran Invitational on Saturday. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet had two individuals qualify for the finals in the hammer throw. Elizabeth Agyei led the duo with a top mark of 42.49m to place third overall. Tate Garcia also competed in the finals with a best distance of 38.83m to take sixth overall. Both Agyei and Garcia earned personal records in the event. 

- Sophie Goodwin placed third overall in the 3000m steeplechase with a 11:47.88 effort. Iliana Gonzalez and Evie Parts also earned top-10 finishes with times of 13:07.60 and 13:14.03. 

- The 4x400 relay of Goodwin, Alina Irvine, Morgan Mouer and Lucy Valencia took fourth overall at 4:17.06. Goodwin led off the relay moments after taking third in the steeplechase. 

- Swarthmore qualified three individuals for the finals in the javelin. Jill Provaznik led the trio with a 31.68m throw to take sixth overall, while Amelia Landry placed seventh with a massive personal-record of 31.54m to improve on her previous best by seven meters. Trelstad T rounded out the field with a throw of 30.59m. 

- Alyssa Zhang grabbed eighth in the long jump. The senior recorded a top distance of 5.04m to set a new personal record. Goodwin followed with an 11th place effort with a personal best of 4.96m. Zhang also achieved a personal record in the 100m dash at 14.12. 

- Morgan Mouer and Alina Irvine were ninth and 11th in the 800m run, respectively. Mouer crossed the finish line at 2:22.53, while Irvine raced to a 2:22:91 finish. Swarthmore track & field alum Quinn Basewitz also ran unattached in the event for a sixth place effort. 

- Caroline Hill was 10th in the 100m hurdles with an 18.72 finish. Sarah Sontag also placed 12th in the event at 18.82. Both competitors set personal records with their marks. 

- Sophia Springer was ninth in the pole vault with a best mark of 2.70m. She cleared the opening two heights on her first attempt. 

- Miranda Kashynski posted a personal record in the 200m dash with a time of 27.41. The senior finished 22nd overall.

The Garnet return to action next weekend at the Ursinus Track & Field Festival.
