Women's Indoor Track & Field Wins Three Events In Season Opener at F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's indoor track & field team earned three victories in the season-opening meet at Franklin and Marshall College's Diplomat Open on Friday.

Trel Trelstad, Tate Garcia, and Olivia Montini all won events for the Garnet, who had two more athletes finish on the podium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trelstad was victorious in the high jump, leaping an indoor-best 5' 3.75" (1.62m) for their ninth career victory in the event, the fourth indoors. The school-record holder in the outdoor high jump, Trelstad narrowly missed the indoor mark of 5' 4". They beat out teammate Anna Savolainen, who tied for second place with a height of 5' 1.75" (1.57m).

- Garcia posted the winning toss in the shot put with a personal-best 42' 3.25" (12.88m), blowing past the field by more than three feet. It was her third career win in the event and second indoors.

- Montini dominated the field in the 3000 meters, crossing the line first in 10:46.67. Montini's time was nearly 20 seconds faster than the second-place runner. It is the third straight year in which she has won an event at this meet, the second time winning the 3000.

- Lee Bickford made the podium in the shot put, coming in third with a throw of 36' 7" (11.15m), and also had a seventh-place finish in the weight throw (41' 1.75", 12.54m). Hannah Swale had a pair of top-seven performances as well, taking fourth (4' 11.75", 1.52m) in the high jump and seventh (35' 6.75", 10.84m) in the shot put.

- Lydia Morris-Kliment registered a leap of 15' 6" (4.72m) to place fourth in the long jump. Aaliyah Anaskevich began her collegiate career with a fifth-place finish (5:50.31) in the mile.
