Women’s Track & Field Captures Two Golds, Finishes Third Overall At Final Day of Centennial Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, PA. - Competing on the third and final day of the Centennial Conference Championships, the Swarthmore women's track & field team put up excellent results, including two gold medals and multiple top-ten finishes.
 
Taking on the other nine Centennial squads, the Garnet fielded athletes in 11 events, including: Javelin Throw, Shot Put, Triple Jump, 4x100m Relay, 1500m, 100mH, 100m, 800m, 200m, 5000m and 4x400m Relay.
 
The Garnet wrapped up the meet in third place, tallying a total of 100.5 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Field:
- Starting out with the javelin throw, two members of the Garnet finished top-ten in the event. First year Hannah Swale placed eighth with a mark of 33.54m, while sophomore Emily Trelstad slotted in at tenth with a mark of 33.47m.

- The undisputed champion of all things throwing, senior Adria Retter simply demolished the field in the shot put, taking home gold with a new personal best of 14.32m. For context, second place finished with a mark of 13.22m, over a meter behind Retter's godly heave. This mark was the seventh best in all of NCAA DIII competition so far this season.

- Swale secured another top-ten finish in the triple jump, placing tenth with a mark of 10.33m. 
 

Track:
- Kicking off track events, the Garnet finished ninth in the 4x100m relay, putting up a time of 51.84 seconds.

- Senior Quinn Basewitz notched another top-ten finish for the Garnet in the 1500m, placing tenth with a time of 4:49.43.

- Showing off her skills on the track, Swale placed sixth in the finals of the 100mH, tallying a time of 15.95 seconds.

- Senior Krystle Boadi medaled in two sprints for the Garnet, capturing bronze in the both 100m finals with a time of 12.63 seconds, and the 200m finals with a time of 25.55 seconds.

- Senior Rose Teszler commanded a gold medal in the 800m, outrunning her opponents by nearly a second to finish first with a time of 2:13.40.

- First year Olivia Montini placed ninth in the 5000m, finishing with a time of 18:44.87.

- Wrapping up the meet for the Garnet, the Swarthmore A team finished fourth in the 4x400m relay, with the quartet of Boadi, Teszler junior Miranda Kashynski and sophomore Kiara Abbey coming up just short of the podium at 3:59.16. 

UP NEXT
Competing in one more regular season meet before the NCAA National Championships, the Garnet will travel to Chester, PA for the Widener University Final Qualifier.
