Four Women’s Student-Athletes Garner CSC All-District At-Large Selections

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College earned four women's College Sports Communicators All-District at-large selections, announced on Tuesday afternoon. Amelia Holland and Helen Stafford earned selections for women's lacrosse, while Martina Kampel and Grace Twitchell received nods for field hockey.

The 2023 Academic All-District Women's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Holland garnered academic all-district status after an impressive sophomore campaign. The sophomore defender had an impressive season for the Garnet, recording 22 ground balls and four forced turnovers as she made her presence known on defense. She also had two assists and started all 16 games in her first full season with the Garnet.

Stafford added another accolade to her impressive junior campaign with academic all-district status. Stafford has established herself as one of the top goalkeepers in the region after another outstanding year for the Garnet. The junior gained all-region recognition for the first time in her career after helping Swarthmore's defense rise to the top of a talented Centennial Conference. As a team, the Garnet defense was second in the conference in goals against average with 8.80 per contest.

Kampel wrapped up an excellent career with an academic all-district bid. The senior earned an NFHCA All-Region Second-team selection for the first time in her career. She was also awarded All-Centennial First-team honors and was named to the Academic All-Centennial squad after earning a selection to the Centennial Honor Roll.

Twitchell adds another academic award to her long list of achievements. This fall, the senior was named an NFCA Division-III Scholars of Distinction for the third-straight season.
