COLORADO SPRINGS – The Swarthmore College field hockey team had a pair of players named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region V Team on Wednesday.
Amelia Landry garnered first team recognition for the second year in a row while
Annika Hoyer capped off an impressive rookie campaign with a second team nod.
Landry posted two defensive saves and was second on the Garnet with six goals. Her six goals and 12 points were career highs. The senior started all 19 games and led a Swarthmore defense that ranked fourth in the region in shutouts per game and 10
th in goals against average. The squad also was 14
th in scoring margin. Landry earned her second consecutive All-Centennial Conference First Team selection.
The Centennial Rookie of the Year, Hoyer paced the Garnet in both goals (9) and points (19). She tallied four game-winners during the campaign, including one in overtime at No. 23 Ursinus College. The first-year also scored two goals in a 3-0 win at No. 19 Haverford College. Hoyer was second in the Centennial in game-winners and seventh in goals. She was a member of the All-Centennial Second Team.
The duo helped Swarthmore post a 10-9 record, 7-3 in conference, and qualify for the Centennial Tournament.
