Zhang Garners All-Centennial Status, Garnet Place Third Overall

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Swarthmore College men's golf standout Dylan Zhang garnered All-Centennial recognition as he tied for fourth overall individually at the Centennial Conference Championships. The first-year became the first Swarthmore golfer to receive All-Centennial status since 2019 and the program's first rookie since 2016.

As a team, the Garnet wrapped up a remarkable season with a third place finish as they finished 12 strokes off the leader. After opening the tournament with a 315, the Garnet carded two scores below 300 to finish play. The team shot a 283 in the second round, while finishing with a 293.

Neil Zhu also finished with a top-10 finish to place ninth overall as an individual, while Jackson Murphy and Ben Lee sat inside the top-20 to round out Swarthmore's scorers.



HOW IT HAPPENED
 - Zhang tied for fourth-overall with a three-round score of 218 to finish two-over for the tournament. The first-year opened up the day with a 69 (-3) to go along with five birdies in the second round. He then finished up play with a 74 (+2) as he added four more birdies in the final round. Zhang ended the tournament with 10 birdies as he battled through wet and rainy conditions all weekend.

- Zhu finished five-over for the tournament to claim ninth overall. The first-year carded a pair of 72s on the day to shoot even in both the second and third rounds. Zhu recorded six birdies in the second round, four in the final round and 12 total for the tournament.

- Murphy rocketed up the standings after struggling on the opening day with a score of 85 (+13). The junior responded to adversity with a 73 (+1) in the second round, while finishing with a 71 (-1) in the third round to tie for 15th overall. Murphy shot a very steady opening round with one birdie and only two bogeys, while finishing with four birdies in the third round.

- Lee also salvaged a top-20 finish after round one struggles. Lee was remarkable in the second round as he carded a 69 (-3) with five birdies. He ended his afternoon with a 76 (+4) in the final round to tie for 19th overall. 

- Gyan Bains rounded out Swarthmore's competitors with a 24th place finish. Bains shot a 80 (+8) in the second round before finishing with a 76 (+4) in the final round. He had six birdies all tournament.
