FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's golf team earned a runner-up finish out of 10 teams at the Gettysburg Shootout on Sunday. The Garnet finished just one stroke over Franklin & Marshall to earn second overall.
Dylan Zhang took home the individual crown for Swarthmore as he finished one-over-par for the tournament. The first-year followed up an incredible opening round with a 74 (+2) to close out the tournament.Â
Neil Zhu also earned a runner-up finish for the Garnet after leading the field after the opening round. Zhu carded a 69 (-3) on the first day, while finishing up play with a 77 (+5) to finish two-over-par.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zhang earned his first collegiate victory with a strong finish to close out the tournament. After shooting one-under to open the tournament, Zhang finished with a 74 (+1) to edge out the win. The first-year tallied three birdies today to end the 36-hole tournament with seven birdies.
- Zhu earned a runner-up finishing after matching a season best score of 69 (-3) to open play. The first-year standout wrapped up today's competition with a 77 (+5) as he added three more birdies to his weekend total. Zhu tallied an impressive 10 birdies in an outstanding weekend for the rookie.Â

Jackson Murphy shot up the leaderboard after shooting a 74 (+2) in the second round. Murphy tied for 11th overall as he shot nine-over for the tournament. The junior got off to a fast start with three-straight birdies to open play as he ended the day with four birdies.Â

Gyan Bains shot an 82 (+10) to close out the second day. The senior tied for 31st overall to round out the team's scorers.
Andy Xin also competed for the Garnet as he took four strokes off his opening round with an 80 (+8) to finish the tournament.Â
