CHESTER, PA. - Competing at day one of the Widener University Invitational, the Swarthmore women's track & field team put stellar results on Friday, Apr. 21.
Taking on over fifty other teams, including Centennial rivals Ursinus College and Haverford College, the Garnet notched five top-ten finishes, including an event win in the discus throw.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Representing the Garnet in their only track event, first year
Olivia Montini finished eighth overall in a field of 44 in the 5000m run, crossing the ticker tape with a time of 18:36.95.
- Moving over to the track, senior
Adria Retter had another monster outing for Swarthmore, finishing second in the shot put with a mark of 13.15m, and first in the discus throw with a mark of 49.08m, a distance nearly five meters better than second place. First year
Tate Garcia joined her teammate in discus success, placing fourth at 38.44m.
- Rounding out the day for the Garnet, first year
Hannah Swale placed sixth in the triple jump, putting up a mark of 10.37m.
