WILMINGTON, Del. - The Swarthmore College golf team captured their third tournament victory of the season with a first place finish at their home Swarthmore DuPont Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.
The Garnet A-Team finished nine strokes below Goucher as Swarthmore posted a two-round team score of 610 to win the tournament.
Neil Zhu led Swarthmore's top team with a two-round score of 149 (+7) as he carded the low score of the day with a 72 (+1) for a fourth place effort.
Gyan Bains led all Swarthmore competitors with a two-round score of 148 (+6) as he tied for second overall. The senior helped lead the Garnet B-Team to a fourth place finish as they beat out conference rival Muhlenberg College.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bains grabbed the team's best score of the tournament with a second place finish. After pacing the Garnet in the opening round with a 75 (+4), the senior improved on his score with a 73 (+2) to finish play. Bains shot birdies on the seventh and 15th holes to finish with four for the tournament.
- Zhu finished fourth overall with a two-round score of 149 (+7). The first-year shaved five strokes off his opening round tally to finish with a round-best 72 (+1) on the day. Zhu carded three birdies on the afternoon after an uncharacteristic opening round.

Alex Cheriel all earned top-10 finishes as members of the Swarthmore A-Team. Zhang led the trio with a two-round score of 152 (+10) to finish sixth overall after carding a 76 (+5) in both rounds. Lee took the eighth spot with a score of 154 (+12) after finishing play with a 78 (+7), while Cheriel tied for ninth at 155 (+13). Cheriel took one stroke off his opening round as he finished with a 77 (+6) on the day.

Andy Xin also took home a top-10 finish as he battled to a ninth place finish. After opening the tournament with a 79 (+8), the first-year forced his way into the top-10 with a 76 (+5) to finish play.

Jackson Murphy responded in a huge way after a tough opening round. Murphy took 11 strokes off his opening mark to finish with a 74 (+3) in the final round as he earned a 16th place effort. Murphy battled through some tough holes, but carded an inmpresive five birdies for the round.

Zack Zawisny also bounced back nicely after a challenging opening round. The senior carded a collegiate-best 78 (+7) to take seven strokes off his opening round. Zawisny along with
Chad Kemmerer tied for 24th overall with a two-round score of 163.
