CHESTER PA. - Taking on Widener University's Danny Curran Invitational, the Swarthmore women's track & field team had a monster day one on Friday, Mar. 31, putting the national scene on notice with their results.
Competing against over fifty teams, including Centennial rival Haverford College, the Garnet participated in two events, seeing representation in both the discus throw as well as the 5000m.
Starting out with throws, senior
Adria Retter annihilated the competition in the discus, finishing first in a field of 32 athletes with a mind boggling mark of 49.22m, a result nearly 10 meters better than second place. Not only a personal best by a wide margin, as it stands, Retter holds the No. 1 mark in the event in all of DIII outdoor T&F, catapulting her to the peak of the discus mountain.
Wrapping the day up on the track, first year
Olivia Montini put up impressive results of her own in the 5000m. The Pennsylvania native finished fourth overall, crossing the ticker tape at 18:18.16.
