Retter Named Most Outstanding Field Performer, Teszler Repeats as 800m Champ

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team finished third overall as a team as the Garnet wrapped up the final day of the Centennial Championships on Sunday afternoon.

Adria Retter was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer after sweeping gold medals in the throw events while setting a couple championship records along the way. The senior captured gold medals in the weight throw and shot put for the second-straight indoor season.

Rose Teszler also repeated as conference champion with a first place finish in the 800m run. The senior captured the indoor and outdoor championship in the event last year.

Krystle Boadi rebroke her 60m dash program record for the second time after she rebroke the record in yesterday's prelims. The senior had an excellent meet as she earned bronze in the 60m dash and 200m dash, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Retter won the shot put with a championship meet record and personal best throw of 14.11m on her third attempt. All six of Retter's throws would have been good enough to win the conference championship as she continued her dominance in the event. The throw moves Retter into 8th overall in Division-III as she puts herself in excellent position to return to the NCAA National Championships. Tate Garcia just missed earning points with a ninth place effort with a throw of 11.18m. The first-year set personal records in the shot put and weight throw this weekend.

- Teszler repeated as champion in the 800m run with a time of 2:14.97. She beat the nearest competitor by nearly three seconds as she led the entire way. Johanna Schubert and Alina Irvine also earned points as they placed seventh and eighth, respectively. Schubert crossed the finish line at 2:21.70, while Irvine posted a 2:22.63 mark.

- Boadi broke her program record from yesterday's prelims with a time of 7.92 in the 60m dash. The senior earned third in the event, while also earning third in the 200m dash with a 26.29 finish.

- Trelstad reached the podium with bronze in the high jump. The sophomore cleared a top height 1.59m on their second attempt to earn six points for the Garnet.

- Quinn Basewitz and Olivia Montini both earned points for the Garnet in the mile run. Basewitz was sixth with a 5:16.98 mark, while Montini took third at 5:17.18. Both efforts marked personal records for the duo.

- Hannah Swale took fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.84. The first-year had an excellent meet after winning the conference championship in the pentathlon on Saturday.
