LANCASTER, Pa. - The Garnet dominated the Centennial Player Of The Week Awards for women's soccer, with senior
Kim Kockenmeister being named offensive player of the week, and sophomore
Emme Hansard being named defensive player of the week. The first of the fall, the awards were announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Kockenmesiter played a crucial role in Swarthmore's early season success, with the Connecticut native scoring two goals in the Garnet's 3-0 win over Bridgewater College, and another pair in Swarthmore's 5-0 blowout of Rutgers-Newark. Kockenmeister is a major reason for the Garnet's 5-0 record so far this year, and is tied for the conference lead in goals scored.
On the defensive side of the ball, Hansard has served as a brick wall for the Garnet, leading Swarthmore to three shutout victories over Bridgewater, William Patterson University and Rutgers-Newark. She has proven pivotal in 1v1 matchups against opposing attackers, shutting down any opportunities they might have had.
Both Kockenmesiter and Hansard will play their home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 14th at 7:00 p.m., looking to keep their undefeated season intact against Moravian University.
