WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Swarthmore College golf team battled rainy and windy conditions as they finished the opening round of the Mason-Dixon Collegiate on Saturday.

The Garnet are tied for 13th place out 21 teams with a team score of 317 after the opening round of play. Dylan Zhang led the way with a team low as he sits tied for 32nd place in the individual standings. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zhang carded a 77 (+5) to lead the Garnet through the opening round. The freshman sunk a birdie on the 14th hole as he shot two-over on the back nine.

- Ben Lee and Andy Xin each shot a 79 (+7) to tie for 49th overall. After struggling on the front nine, Lee bounced back with a pair of birdies to shoot one-over on the back nine. 

- Jackson Murphy rounded out the team's scorers with an 82 (+10), while Neil Zhu finished one-stroke over Murphy with an 83 (+11) on the afternoon.
