CHESTER, Pa. - A group of Swarthmore College Women's Track & Field athletes solidified themselves among the
top athletes in NCAA Division III on Saturday at the Widener Invitational.
Garnet sophomore
Lauren Holt ran the 400-meter dash in 56.82 seconds. That is 0.62 faster than her previous best, and it will likely slot her among the Top 10 400 runners in the country. Her time is the second best in school history.
Holt also joined senior
Kayla Camacho, junior
Mirayda Martinez and junior
Sydney Covitz to run the 4x400 relay in a Swarthmore-record 3:56.04. That too will be around the Top 10 times in the country.
Holt, Camacho, junior
Sayaka Vaules and senior
Simran Khanna also broke the Garnet record in the 4x100 with a 49.51-second finish.
Junior
Clay Conley continued to excel in the shot put, reaching a season-best distance of 13.36 meters (43 feet 10 inches). Conley's previous best was 13.25m, so Conley will likely move up from the previous No. 20 ranking. Conley also placed second in the discus at the meet with a launch of 37.44m (122 ft 10 in).
Camacho placed second in the 200 dash at Widener in 25.41 seconds, and Covitz took third in the 800 in 2:18.48.
Swarthmore's next action is at The Penn Relays in Philadelphia on Thursday and Friday.
