MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—Swarthmore College Women's Track & Field opened the 2018 outdoor season at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational on Friday and Saturday and competed against teams from all three NCAA divisions.
Sophomore Lilly Price won the mile run in 5:00.31, which converts to a blistering 4:38.06 in the 1,500-meter run and the fifth fastest time in all of Division III so far this season. Price, the only Division III athlete in her heat (the rest were Division I or II or Canadian) and won by more than two seconds. Hannah Gutow came in 30th with a time of 5:39.73 for 30th place.
Rachel Vresilovic had her personal best in the hammer throw with a throw of 32.62m and finished in 34th. In the shot put, Naomi Bronkema finished 30th with a throw of 10.51m, up 0.19 meters since the Centennial Conference Indoor Championship in February.
Kayla Camacho finished in the top 35 in three events, the 100m, 200m and 400m. She set a new personal best in the 100 (12.68 seconds) and was not too far off her best times in the 200 (25.84) and the 400 (1:00.24).
Swarthmore is back in action at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University on Friday and Saturday.
