COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Track & Field moved up from sixth to fourth place in the final day of the 2017-18 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship.
Kayla Camacho was golden in the 200 meter dash, winning the event with a time of 26.26. Camacho improved six places in the polls after finishing seventh in this event in last season's championship.
Naomi Bronkema and Jen Beltran both added silvers to their kit on Sunday. Bronkema finished in second in the high jump after being seeded as the 11th best jumper entering the event. Her clearance of the bar at 1.52m awarded eight points to the Garnet.
Beltran took silver in the 800-meter run, getting edged by the first-place runner from Johns Hopkins University by five one-hundredths of a second. Lilly Price collected bronze in the event with a time of 2:19.57.
Beltran also earned a silver medal in the final race of the championship, the 4x400 relay. Beltran, Louise Rosler, Sydney Covitz and Kayla Camacho combined for a time of 4:08.68.
In the shot put, Claire Conley won the bronze medal with a top throw of 11.94m.
Maya Zimmerman finished in fourth in the pentathlon, gaining five points for Swarthmore.
By finishing in fourth this season, the Garnet made a significant improvement from last season's seventh-place finish.
