ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Golf jumped from third to second place in the Centennial Conference Championship after recording the best round two of any team on Saturday. The Garnet shot a 295 (+7) on the par-72 Bridges Golf Club in Saturday's round. Combined with their first round score of 303, the Garnet's 598 puts them six strokes behind Franklin & Marshall for the top spot on the leaderboard.
Sophomore Vamsi Damerla led the way with the best round of the tournament so far, a 69. His scorecard featured no bogeys, all par except for birdies on holes two, four and 18. Damerla was named the conference's co-Rookie of the Year last season. His combined score of 145 is tied for first place with F&M's Stephen Colodny.
Nick DiMaio scored one-over for the Garnet, and Dan Altieri shot four-over. Adam Agustin recorded Swarthmore's fourth score, a 77, and Michael Chen shot an 81.
Damerla, Altieri and DiMaio are all ranked in the top-10 of the leaderboard.
Swarthmore will look to close the gap with F&M in Sunday's final round of the Centennial Championship.
