CARLISLE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Track & Field medaled in seven events at the Centennial Conference Championships May 6-8 and finished sixth overall with 78 points.
Swarthmore's 4x800-meter relay squad of Indy Reid-Shaw, Kate Hannah, Sarah Nielsen and Katie Jo McMenamin earned gold with a new school and meet record of 9:08.05. McMenamin anchored the relay team with a blistering 2:11.557, a time that would be the fastest 800 individual time in the Centennial all year by more than four seconds.
McMenamin also captured the gold medal in the 1,500, cruising to the finish line in 4:36.85.
Maggie O'Neil earned the third Swarthmore gold with a throw of 12.94m in the shot put, beating her previous high of 12.62m.
Swarthmore racked up four silver awards. Kayla Camacho sprinted to second in the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 12.46 and 25.92, respectively. Camacho nearly had first in both events, but was edged by 0.02 seconds in the 100 and by 0.01 seconds in the 200.
Camacho was also on two silver-medalist relay teams. Swarthmore took second in the 4x100 (Lea Slauch, Camacho, Anise Charles and Simran Khanna) in 50.09. The Garnet's 4x400 team of Jen Beltran, Camacho, Slauch and McMenamin finished in second with a time of 4:04.90.
In addition to medaling, the Garnet also accumulated points in multiple events. Reid-Shaw posted four points in the 5,000 with a time of 18:00.57. Sarah Nielsen added three points with a 4:49.03 run in the 1,500. O'Neil gathered three points for her discus throw of 33.98m and five more for her javelin throw of 34.92m. Rachel Hilburn picked up a point in the triple jump, leaping 10.27m.
Swarthmore's season continues at home on May 16 in the Final Qualifying meet.
