SANATOGA, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Golf captured first place in the Ursinus Fall Invitational on Tuesday afternoon with a 309 on the par-71 course at Raven's Claw Golf Club. The Garnet topped nine other squads in the win, including taking a two-stroke edge over conference opponent Muhlenberg College.
With a 73, freshman
Dan Altieri led the Garnet to their second victory in as many chances in the first week of the 2015-16 season. Altieri played for par on seven holes on the front nine and recorded four birdies on the back nine.
Vamsi Damerla took 75 strokes on the day to finish tied for fourth. Damerla carded 10 par holes and two birdies, both on long par-five holes.
Nick DiMaio also shot in the 70s, scoring a 78 while shooting for birdies on four separate holes.
Chris Zhang added an 83 for the Garnet's fourth score. He was only one of two players to complete the par-3 third hole in two strokes.
Hunter Hughes played in the fifth position for the Garnet and shot a 90.
Swarthmore plays in the two-day Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic on Oct. 3-4 at Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, Pa.
