KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Freshman forward
Marin McCoy and junior midfielder
Caroline Khanna of the Swarthmore College women's soccer team were named the first All-Americans in program history by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Thursday, Dec. 3. McCoy earned a spot on the Second Team while Khanna received Third Team recognition.
Earlier this week, both players also landed on the organization's All Mid-Atlantic Region First Team.
McCoy is one of only two freshmen named All-America this season after breaking the program record for single-season points with 40 on 15 goals and 10 assists. The Denver, Colo. native was also honored as the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year and placed on the All-Conference First Team last month.
Khanna recorded nine goals and six assists for 24 points with four of those coming in the NCAA Tournament. The junior midfielder started in 21 of 23 games and helped pace a Garnet attack that ranks fourth in Division III with 75 total assists and 12th on 3.61 goals per game. Like McCoy, Khanna was also a member of the All-Centennial First Team in 2015.
Swarthmore finished its best season in program history with an 18-3-2 record and an appearance in the sectional final as one the last eight teams in the NCAA Tournament. The team graduates nine seniors and is slated to return 24 letterwinners for the 2016 campaign.
