McMenamin Advances to 1,500-Meter Finals at NCAA T&F Championships

Sarah Nielsen, who advanced to NCAAs for the first time, finished the 1,500-meter run in 4:40.58.

DELAWARE, Ohio – Sophomore Katie Jo McMenamin of the Swarthmore College women's track & field team advanced to the final round of the women's 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, May 22 at Ohio Wesleyan University's George Gauthier Track.
 
A native of Lafayette, Colo., McMenamin used a strong push over the final 200 meters to finish second in her heat with a time of 4:36.94. The mark was also the fourth-fastest in the field of 22 competitors. Classmate Sarah Nielsen also competed in the event and finished 17th in 4:40.58.
 
McMenamin will look to become the fifth individual in the history of the Swarthmore women's track & field program to garner All-America laurels outdoors when she races in the finals on Saturday, May 24 at 2 p.m.
