Women's Track & Field Record Falls at Widener Invitational

COMPLETE RESULTS - Widener Invitational
COMPLETE RESULTS - Larry Ellis Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. - Junior Osazenoriuwa Ebose broke her own shot put school record and the Swarthmore College women's track and field team picked up multiple personal-bests to highlight the busy weekend. The Garnet had competitors at both the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University - a meet featuring many Division I programs and more than 1,000 athletes - while also competing at the Widener Outdoor Invitational.

Ebose threw the shot put three more inches than her record set last spring to place first overall with the 13.38 meter (43' 10.75") distance - a mark ranked 13th in all of Division III after the weekend. Ebose also took first in the discus at Widener (128' 7") and at Larry Ellis (128' 9").

On Friday evening from Princeton, sophomore Katie Jo McMenamin placed 17th overall in the 1,500-meter run with her 4:33.97 time. The mark is fifth-best in Division III after the weekend. Senior Emma Saarel recorded a college-best 5,000-meter run time of 17:56.28.

The Garnet picked up mulitple personal-bests in the 800-meter run starting off with McMenamin at 2:13.64 - one second shy of the program's outdoor record - to place first overall. Following suit were junior Katherine Wiseman (2:25.38), freshman Kate Hannah (2:27.20), sophomore Kate Crowley (2:32.98) and senior McCleary Philbin (2:40.89).

In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore Sarah Nielsen paced a 4:40.85 personal-best finish for seventh place, while freshman Indy Reid-Shaw finished at 4:51.76 for a personal-best as well.

Sophomore Katie Lin (59.57) and junior Julia Nee (59.84) had strong finishes in the 400-meter dash to place sixth and seventh, respectively.

In the field, Lin took first in the long jump with a 5.07m (16' 7.75") mark. Freshman Maggie O'Neil earned a college-best in the javelin throw with her 30.54m (100' 2") distance, while also covering 10.60m (shot put) and 26.26m (discus) over the weekend.
