CHESTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's track and field team conclude competition with a handful of personal bests at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University.
On Friday in the 1500-meter run, sophomore
Jenna Cody paced a first place finishing time of 18:27.06, while senior
Emma Saarel recorded a fourth-place time of 18:36.39 to crose the tape 23 seconds ahead of the next competitior.Â
Out in the field, junior
Osazenoriuwa Ebose improved her discus performance of the season with her first-place throw of 35.66 meters (126' 06"). Freshman
Maggie O'Neil, also a member of the women's basketball team, made her collegiate debut recording a 29.54 meter (96' 11") discus throw.Â
In the second and final day of competition at the Danny Curran Invitational, junior
Liz Tawa and sophomore
Marina Martinez recorded college-best finishes in the 1,500-meter run. Tawa placed eighth overall on her 4:57.90 pace and Martinez crossed the tape at 5:32.33, shredding four seconds of her previous best mark set last spring.

Out of 70 competitors, sophomores
Sarah Nielsen and
Katie Lin crossed the finish back-to-back at 2:24.02 and 2:25.47 in the 800-meter run, respectively, to place fourth and fifth place overall. Freshman
Eli Teerlink bettered her finish in the 800 with a 2:45.91 finishing time.

Julia Nee placed ninth in the 400-meter dash with her 1:01.63 sprinting time. The 4x100-meter relay team of Lin, Nee,
Katherine Zavez and
Anise Charles finished at 52.73 – a mark on the program's top-10 performance list – to place fifth overall.

In the field, throwers Ebose took fourth in the shot put on a 10.75 meter (35' 9.50") toss and O'Neil recorded a solid 8.38 meter (27' 6") mark to open her collegiate career. Senior
Katie Lytle placed 13
th in the javelin with a distance of 23.85 meters (78' 3"). Sophomore
Shaina Lu recorded a vault of 2.52 meters (8' 3.25") for tenth overall.
