ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Freshmen
Drew Langan and
Michael Chen led the Swarthmore men's golf team to a tie for sixth place at the Muhlenberg Invitational on Monday, Sept. 30 at the Lehigh Country Club.
Langan shot a 76, which was good enough for a tie for third place, and Chen, playing in his first event for the Garnet, shot an 81 to finish in tie for 26th. Senior
Kyle Knapp posted a score of 82, and classmate
Sam White shot an 84 to round out the Garnet squad.
Playing without a fifth man, the team handled the added pressure well to post a respectable finish. The Garnet's team score of 323 was good enough for a sixth-place tie with host Muhlenberg out of a total of 17 schools.
Rutgers-Camden won the tournament with a score of 310. The individual champion was Pete D'Angelo from Rutgers-Camden with a score of 72.
The Garnet will compete next at the Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, Pa. on October 5th and 6th in a tournament hosted by McDaniel College.
