Litovsky Joins Swarthmore Swimming Staff as an Assistant Coach

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College swimming program announced the hiring of Leo Litovsky as an assistant coach for the men's and women's teams on Monday. Litovsky joins the Garnet after spending four seasons as an assistant at Skidmore College.

During his time with the Thoroughbreds, Litovsky coached under Swarthmore Garnet Hall of Famer Jill Belding Greenleaf '99 for four seasons. Litovsky was promoted to associate head coach in June of 2024.

Litovsky joins a Garnet coaching staff that has captured five consecutive Centennial Conference championships on the women's side and four of the last five conference titles on the men's side. Last season, the women finished No. 12 in the nation, while the men climbed as high as No. 20 in the CSCAA national rankings.

"I'm very excited to welcome Leo to our coaching staff," said head coach Karin Colby. "Leo has an insatiable curiosity, strong emotional intelligence, and a tireless work ethic and I believe he's going to be a tremendous asset to our team as we look to build on our recent successes in and out of the pool."

Last season, Litovsky was a member of the Liberty League Women's Swimming Coaching Staff of the Year. The Thoroughbreds finished third at the conference championships, marking a program-best finish at the Liberty League Championships. Skidmore also produced seven All-Liberty individual honorees and four All-Liberty relay teams.

In addition to Skidmore's team success, Litovsky earned individual recognition as a recipient of the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America's Jean Freeman Scholarship. The award honors coaches whose leadership, integrity, contributions, and character reflect the values exemplified by Jean Freeman, the longtime women's swimming coach at the University of Michigan. Litovsky was one of six coaches nationwide to receive the scholarship and one of just three recipients from the Division III ranks.

Litovsky enjoyed a standout collegiate career at New Paltz, serving as team captain during his final two seasons with the Hawks. He was named the team's Most Improved Swimmer in 2019-20 and received the Matt Glasser Leadership Award in recognition of his leadership and impact on the program.
