LANCASTER, Pa. – Swarthmore College's
Clay Almgren repeated as the Centennial Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year and was one of six All-Centennial selections for the Garnet, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Almgren became the fifth player in conference history to earn back-to-back Player of the Year accolades. He is the first to accomplish the feat since 2021 and just the second since 2007.
Almgren was joined on the All-Centennial First Team by
Jack McHenry.
Nolan Ohrman,
Gabe Malcolm, and
Drew Tyson were included on the second team while
Ryder Maston received honorable mention. In addition,
Sam Palmer was Swarthmore's representative on the Centennial All-Sportsmanship Team.
Almgren led the squad with 37 assists and 85 points. He was second with 48 goals. The senior also tallied 33 ground balls and five caused turnovers. Almgren ranked second in the conference in points per game, third in goals per game, and fourth in assists per game. He recorded season highs of seven goals, seven assists, 11 points, and eight ground balls.
McHenry was the top face-off man in the Centennial, leading in total wins (265), win percentage (.650), and ground balls (166). His ground ball and face-off win totals set new Swarthmore single-season records. McHenry had a season-high 22 face-off wins twice and collected a season-best 18 ground balls versus Messiah University.
Ohrman tallied 20 goals, 12 assists, and 32 points as a midfielder. He also registered 19 ground balls and contributed to a Garnet defense that ranked third in the conference. The senior set season highs of three goals, two assists, four points, and three ground balls.
Malcolm was a defensive midfielder who finished with 31 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. He also posted one goal and one assist offensively. Malcolm had season-bests of five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Tyson went 11-8 with a program-record 236 saves in the cage. He ranked first in the conference in save percentage (.589), second in saves per game, and fourth in goals against average (9.58). The 2024 Centennial Defensive Player of the Year produced a season-high 22 saves at Muhlenberg College in the conference tournament.
Maston led Swarthmore with 51 goals and finished with 65 points. He added 14 assists, 33 ground balls and five caused turnovers. The senior ranked second in the Centennial in goals per game and eighth in points per game. Maston recorded season bests of six goals, three assists, six points, and four ground balls.
The Garnet posted an 11-8 record, their fourth straight season with double-digit victories, and reached the Centennial semifinals for the fourth year in a row.
