Manning Breaks 75-Year-Old Long Jump Record at Haverford Midweek

HAVERFORD, PA. - The Swarthmore College men's track & field team had a pair of student-athletes earn first-place finishes at the Haverford MidWeek Meet on Tuesday.

Archer Manning made history, besting Dick Hall's 75-year-old record in the long jump. The junior recorded a best distance of 7.02m to edge out the Swarthmore legend by a quarter of an inch.  He currently holds the top long jump mark in the Centennial Conference this season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Manning made history on his final jump of the afternoon, unleashing a record-breaking mark of 7.02m. The sophomore posted a distance of 6.79 on his first attempt, before following with a 6.91 effort. He currently holds the top measurement in the Centennial Conference. 

- Wyatt Fell won the javelin throw with a top mark of 52.36m. The junior holds the third-best mark in the Centennial Conference.
