PITTSFORD, NY - The Swarthmore College men's golf team sits in a tie for second overall, shooting four-over-par at the halfway point of the Fred Kravetz Invitational on Friday. The Garnet are six strokes outside of the team lead.
Frank Zhou tied for fourth overall after the opening round, shooting a 71 (-1) to lead the squad. Max Ash and Alex Lyu also enjoyed top-10 positions, tying for eighth overall at one-over-par.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zhou opened at one-under-par to place fourth overall. The rookie carded four birdies on the afternoon, shooting one-under to finish off the back nine.
- Ash and Lyu tied for eighth overall to earn a spot inside the top-10. Both golfers carded a one-over-par with Ash tallying four birdies in the opening round.
- Michael Yuen rounded out the team's scorers, finishing at three-over for the round. The rookie finished even with a pair of birdies on the front nine, but carded three bogeys on the back stretch.
- Phelps Wang shot a 78 to finish six-over for the opening round. The senior finished strong with three birdies on the back nine.
