FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. - The Swarthmore College men's golf team wrapped up the final round at Fernandina Beach with a third-place finish on Tuesday afternoon. The team set a program 54-hole record, while Frank Zhou set an individual program record. 

Despite leading for much of the tournament, the Garnet were unable to close it out and settled for a third-place finish. Still, Swarthmore delivered an outstanding showing, setting program records for 18-hole, 36-hole, and 54-hole scoring to mark the strongest team performance in program history. The Garnet ended at three-under-par at 861, besting their previous 54-hole low by 10 strokes. 

Zhou led a trio of top-10 finishes for the Garnet. The rookie closed out the tournament at three-under-par, while shooting a program-record 213. He took down the previous mark by two strokes. Dylan Zhang followed behind with a fifth-place effort, while Max Ash tied for 10th overall. Both individuals recorded their best 54-hole totals with Zhang tying the previous program best. 


HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zhou finished in fourth overall at three-under-par after shooting a 75 (+3) in the final round. The rookie was one-under on the front nine, but ran into trouble on the final stretch. He exits the tournament with the program record for lowest 36- and 54-hole scoring. 

- Zhang had a stellar performance, finishing in fifth overall at one-under-par. The senior capped off the tournament with a steady performance, shooting one-under on the front and two-over on the back for a 74 (+2). 

- Max Ash finished in 10th overall after an exceptional opening two rounds. The junior was three-over-par for the tournament, closing out play with a 77 (+5) in round three. 

- Phelps Wang delivered the team's best round of the day with an even-par 72. The junior got off to a strong start with a birdie on the first hole and an eagle on the second, shooting three-under on the front nine before giving back three strokes on the back. Wang finished tied for 17th overall at seven-over-par.

- Michael Yuen tied for 29th overall at 14-over-par. The first-year carded his best round of the tournament with a 75 (+3) to finish play. Yuen totaled four birdies in another solid performance.
