IRVING, TX - The Swarthmore College men's golf team finished in second place at the University of Dallas Crusader Cup to open its spring season on Tuesday.
Dylan Zhang led the squad with a runner-up finish as the Garnet persevered through frost and windy conditions.
The Garnet finished just one stroke behind the champion after leading for a portion of the afternoon. The team gained one position after yesterday's opening round, leaping No. 23 LeTourneau to claim sole possession of second place.
Zhang carded the best individual round of the day, firing a one-under-par to climb seven spots in the standings. The senior finished just three strokes behind the champion after beginning the final round nine shots off the lead.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zhang totaled six birdies to battle his way to a runner-up result. The senior shot a 71 (-1) in the final round to finish five-over for the tournament. Zhang was two-over on the front nine, but turned his day around with a remarkable three-under on the back half. He also birdied the 18th hole, learning from his double-bogey from the opening round.

Frank Zhou delivered a top-five finish at 11-over-par, climbing four spots to secure fifth place. The rookie shot five-over in the final round, highlighted by two eagles and two birdies. Zhou recorded a pair of eagles on the par-five third and 18th holes to punctuate his afternoon.

Phillip Kim surged up the leaderboard with a 10th-place finish, carding a 77 (+5) in the second round. The rookie climbed 17 spots after recording two birdies during a steady afternoon. Competing as an individual, Kim finished at 14-over-par.

Phelps Wang was 29th overall after shooting an 89 (+17) for the final round.
Michael Yuen followed closely in 33rd with an 87 (+15). Both competitors carded one birdie on the afternoon.
Max Ash rounded out the team's competitors in 56th place.
