Men's Soccer to Host Charity Clinic on 3/1

The Swarthmore College Garnet Men's Soccer team will be hosting a charity soccer clinic on Sunday, March 1, 2026 to benefit communities in crisis in Lewiston & Portland, Maine.

The clinic is open to all boys between the ages of 7-14 and will feature the current players and coaches of the Garnet program. It will start at 2:00 pm in Clothier Field Stadium at Swarthmore and conclude at 5:00 pm. The players will engage in skills training and instruction, small-sided games and full-sided play during the afternoon.

The charity clinic will benefit two communities with many families facing difficulties procuring basic needs such as groceries, safe places to live and school supplies. Swarthmore's head coach, Eric Wagner, grew up in Maine and has been supporting these communities for many years. Both Lewiston and Portland are avid soccer communities, and many families are currently in crisis in both cities. Proceeds from the clinic will support two primary charities: the Trinity Jubilee Center in Lewiston and the Maine Immigrants Rights Coalition in Portland.

In keeping with the College's culture of service, Swarthmore's men's soccer program has a long history of charity work and community engagement. Here in the Greater Philadelphia area, overseas on pre-season training trips, and in other communities around the country, the Garnet lend (many) helping hands, raise money, and support needy communities every year. Last August in Peru, for example, the Garnet helped construct a cement retaining wall for a community center in an impoverished neighborhood outside of Lima.
