Baseball Duo Garners CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – A pair of Swarthmore College baseball players were selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
 
Benjamin Buchman and Noah Potholm both received the honor for the first time in their respective careers. To be eligible for Academic All-District accolades, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. In addition, players must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings. The Academic All-District Team is part of the Academic All-America program, which is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across college sports.
 
Buchman was named to the All-Centennial Second Team this season. He batted .326 with a .982 OPS. The senior totaled 45 hits, seven doubles, seven home runs, 32 RBI, 37 runs, 22 walks, and 14 stolen bases. Buchman recorded 13 multi-hit games and was second on the squad in homers and third in stolen bases.
 
Potholm received All-Centennial honorable mention. He tied for the Centennial lead with 64.1 innings pitched and he was tied for second with seven wins. The junior finished with a 5.32 ERA and struck out 43 batters. He was selected the Centennial Pitcher of the Week one time.
 
The pair helped the Garnet finish second in the Centennial standings and post a 24-18 record.
