Baseball Drops Non-Conference Showdown at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Swarthmore College baseball team fell to DeSales University, 12-2, in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon.

Evan Hawkes and Francisco Mora led the way with two-hit performances for the Garnet offense. Mora mashed his first collegiate home run, while Zac Kahn accounted for the other Swarthmore RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-  The Bulldogs scraped across the game's first run after leading off the first with a double.  Teddy Helgerson then rebounded for the Garnet with a 1-2-3 second frame.

- Swarthmore evened the score in the third inning after Mora poked a leadoff single and then stole second base. The catcher came around to score on a Kahn single to right field.

- After a shutdown inning in the bottom of the third, the Garnet threatened with a pair of one-out singles in the fourth, but grounded into a double play to end the rally. DeSales then took control of the game with five runs on three hits and two errors in the bottom frame, making it 6-1.

- The Garnet were unable to take advantage of an Aidan Sullivan leadoff single and stolen base in the fifth. The Bulldogs then added on another insurance tally in the bottom half.

- The Bulldogs added a pair of runs in the sixth and seventh to build an 11-2 advantage. Mora tacked on a Swarthmore run in the seventh with a leadoff solo homer to left field.
