Women's Track & Field Crowns Three Champions on Day Two of Centennial Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's track & field team continued its weekend at Ursinus College for the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday. The Garnet sit in second place through nine events.

Swarthmore won three events and produced six medalists on the day. Hannah Swale, Trel Trelstad, and Tate Garcia were victorious in the heptathlon, high jump, and discus respectively. Swale broke a 39-year-old program record in the process.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swale took the title in the heptathlon with a school-record 4646 points, which now ranks 14th in Division III this year. She surpassed the previous total of 4189 points set by Ramona O'Halloran in 1986. It is Swale's second straight victory in the event and her third consecutive medal. She was the top athlete in the javelin (33.95m) and 800 meters (2:30.60) and placed fifth (4.94m) in the long jump. Swale's time in the 800 was a personal best and she was the top finisher in four of the seven events in the competition.

- The Garnet swept the podium in the discus with Garcia first (40.91m), Lydia Morris-Kliment second (40.14m), and Lee Bickford third (38.87m). It is the third year in a row in which a Swarthmore athlete has won the event. Jordyn Bernard and Amelia Landry also competed, finishing 17th (27.99m) and 18th (27.42m) respectively.

- Trelstad captured their second career conference crown in the high jump and first since 2022. The senior posted a height of 1.60m. Caroline Hill and Deedra Closser came in seventh (1.50m) and 13th (1.30m) respectively.

- The 4x800 meter relay of Morgan Mouer, Ania Wong, Alina Irvine, and Elizabeth Page took second place with a time of 9:20.69. The quartet was edged out by just 0.04 seconds. The Garnet have medaled in the event in every year in which they have competed since 2013.

- Evie Parts crossed the line 13th in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:30.14. Eli Dellinger followed in 20th place in a season-best 13:31.00. Kya Boldizsar competed in the long jump and came in 17th (4.62m).
