GREENSBORO, NC - The No. 23 Swarthmore College men's swimming team earned five All-American honors on the second day of the NCAA National Championships.
Cami Wilson achieved first-team recognition in the 100 butterfly, while he teamed with
Danny Castle,
Cole Griscavage, and
Levi Tipton to secure second-team honors in the 200 freestyle relay.
Wilson earned his first career All-American honor in an individual event and his first first-team accolade. The junior secured first-team status in the 100 butterfly with a Centennial Conference record in the morning prelims, breaking his own record for the fifth time this season. His journey began with a time of 48.16 at the Division-III Shootout in Chicago last November and culminated in a 47.46 first-team, All-American finish at the National Championships.
The men capped off a successful evening with a second-team finish in the 200 freestyle relay. Wilson earned his second All-American honor of the day and the third of his career. Griscavage secured his second career All-American recognition, while Castle and Tipton both received their first.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wilson finished eighth overall in the 100 butterfly with a time of 47.81. The junior advanced to the championship heat after setting a conference record of 47.46 in the morning prelims. He also became the first male swimmer in Centennial Conference history to earn first-team distinction in the 100 butterfly, achieving the highest finish in conference history. Wilson became the men's first All-American since Andrew Karpenko, who placed eighth in the 200 breaststroke in 2023.
- The men's 200 freestyle relay earned second-team honors with a fifth-place finish in the consolation final. The quartet posted a time of 1:20.99, breaking their previous program record of 1:21.40 set earlier in the morning session. Wilson led off the relay with a 20.25 split, matching his own program record in the 50 freestyle from yesterday's morning session. The Garnet finished 13th overall, securing All-American status in the event for the first time in program history.
- Castle finished 25th overall in the 200 freestyle prelims. The sophomore touched at 1:39.09 to finish just short of his lifetime best.
