LANCASTER, Pa. - The No. 9 Swarthmore College women's swimming team continued to grow its lead with another excellent showing on the third day of the Centennial Championships. The Garnet lead the field with 713 points, while Gettysburg trails with 581 points. 

Swarthmore won all but one event on the third night of the championships. Sophie Rotival headlined a plethora of victories as she became the first women's swimmer in conference history to become a four-time winner in 100 breaststroke. Quinn Weygandt also successfully defended her 400 IM championship for the third-straight year. 

Genine Collins added to her medal count with a pair of top-finishes in the 100 butterfly and as a member of the 200 freestyle relay. The sophomore won her fourth gold of the meet and the tenth of her career.

Erin Szuromi rounded out the team's top finishers with gold in the 100 backstroke. Last season, the senior won the consolation final, but returned to the podium this season after winning the event in 2023. 


HOW IT HAPPENED
- The women claimed another relay gold with the top time in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Collins, Ainsley Jane Tambling, Rotival and Elle Anthony finished under the NCAA B cut with a time of 1:33.28. The quartet repeated as champions, but finished just short of their program record from last season. Gettysburg beat out Swarthmore in the consolation final to break the streak of Swarthmore relay sweeps.

- Weygandt successfully defended her title in the 400 IM, becoming the first three-time champion in the event since 2007. The junior touched at 4:23.40 to finish six seconds below the NCAA B cut. Lauren Rohde took home hardware in the event with a third-place effort at 4:28.06 to finish below the NCAA B cut. Annaliese Chen placed sixth overall in the championship finals with a time of 4:32.56. 

- Collins led a Swarthmore sweep in the 100 butterfly with her second individual victory of the championships. The sophomore touched at 56.48, while Norah Rutkowski (57.04) and Mirabel Fernald (57.74) picked up silver and bronze, respectively. Tambling also swam to a sixth-place finish in the championship heat with a time of 59.01. 

- Ava Craig and Kate Hallmark won silver and bronze in the 200 freestyle. Craig finished with a time of 1:53.33, while Hallmark followed at 1:53.40. Georgi Mathews (1:54.61) placed fourth overall and Mackenzie Tucker (1:56.36) took seventh. The 200 freestyle ended Swarthmore's streak of nine-straight event victories. 

- Rotival became the first-ever, four-time Centennial Champion in the 100 breaststroke. The senior touched at 1:04.21 to finish below the NCAA B cut, while Cara Dominici earned silver in the event with a 1:04.34 finish. Anthony (1:05.51) and Annabelle Hoover (1:06.68) followed in fourth and fifth to round out four Swarthmore finalists. Dominici moved into fourth all-time in program history, while Anthony and Hoover are fifth and eighth, respectively. 

- Szuromi wrapped up Saturday's action with a gold medal in the 100 backstroke. The senior returned to the top of the podium in the event with a time of 56.81. Maya Ambardekar (57.23) took fourth overall, while posting the third-fastest mark in program history.

The Garnet look to close out tomorrow's Centennial Championships with the final two sessions. The morning session begins at 10:00 a.m. with the championship finale slated for 6:00 p.m.
