No. 12 Women’s Swimming Finishes 11th at NCAA Championships, Collins Records Her Second Runner-Up Finish

INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 12 Swarthmore College women's swimming team finished 11th overall at the NCAA National Championships, recording the third-highest finish in program and conference history.

Genine Collins capped off one of the best individual performances in conference history with her second runner-up finish of the championships. The junior placed second overall with a conference record in the 100 freestyle, recording her sixth All-American swim of the meet and 15th of her career. 

The 400 freestyle relay capped off an excellent championship meet with All-American first-team honors. The team of Elle Anthony, Collins, Riley Bacinski and Weygandt secured the program's third-straight All-American result in the event.

Anthony and Weygandt put the finishing touches on a pair of legendary careers, which helped foster the most successful four-year stretch in program history. Both swimmers end their careers with 12 All-American honors, respectively. 


HOW IT HAPPENED
- Collins achieved first-team status in the 100 freestyle with a second-place finish. The junior recorded her second career All-American result in the event, while posting the only first-team finish in Centennial history. Collins finished with a time of 49.76 in the finals, and 50.24 in the prelims. Both results were program and conference records. 

- Anthony, Collins, Bacinski and Weygandt earned first-team honors in the 400 freestyle relay with an eighth-place result. The team posted a time of 3:23.99 to earn the program's third-straight All-American accolade in the event. 

- Kate Hallmark finished 21st overall with a time of 17:22.91 in the 1650 freestyle. She also grabbed 34th in the 200 backstroke prelims, finishing at 2:04.54. 

- Anthony and Bacinski both raced in the 100 freestyle prelims. Anthony was 39th overall with a 51.74 finish, while Bacinski was 56th at 52.53. 

- Norah Rutkowski and Cara Dominici both competed in the 200 breaststroke prelims. Rutkowski was 26th at 2:21.05, while Dominici came in 36th at 2:23.03 in the morning session.
